Tell us more about the building's project team - how did the group work together to address sustainability and building performance?
As a team we were able to come up with a plan to use the existing slag and asphalt that was removed for material around the site.
What were major challenges in the project related to building performance and how did the project team work to overcome them?
One major challenge was the railroad train that runs along the river in front of the Glasshouse Building. Rycon along with the Design Team and Owner explored options and had a sound study completed for the rooms facing the train. It was determined that it was not worth it to increase the STC value for the windows along this elevation.
What are the project's key sustainability features?
Nest thermostats were used in each apartment unit. Energy efficient HVAC units were used on the project.
What was the intended or actual impact of the project on its users or the surrounding community?
Since the construction of the Glasshouse Apartments there has been an influx of restaurants and business in the Station Square area.
