The building’s management has undertaken several years of thoughtful renovations with a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency, now making it one of the city’s most impressive green building stories. Main tenant UPMC Health Plan completed floor-by-floor renovations which prioritized occupant health and efficiency, each floor earning LEED certification for Commercial Interiors along the way. After having already achieved both Energy Star and BOMA 360 certifications in previous years, the U.S. Steel Tower achieved LEED certification for Existing Buildings in 2019.
