Stop 8: George Rowland White Performance Center at Point Park University
201 Wood Street, Pittsburgh, PA, 15222
The George Rowland White Performance Center is the LEED Gold certified dance studio at Point Park University (PPU) with eight expansive rehearsal and performance spaces. Point Park University is a liberal arts university, aptly named for its location near “The Point” - Pittsburgh's landmark park where the three major rivers join. PPU pledged a commitment to sustainable campus practices by ensuring that all new construction is LEED certified, and it has renovated Downtown lots into green spaces (Village Park, for example). Lucky passersby can catch a glimpse of the students in intense practice of jazz, modern, or classical ballet forms in the illuminated studios.
